Material selection guide →A roll-on ball forms the moving application surface between the package and the user. Its material, surface and dimensions need to work with the collar and cosmetic formulation. Compare suitable metal, glass, ceramic or polymer candidates through fit, dispensing and formulation-contact evaluation rather than choosing by appearance alone.
A cosmetic roll-on ball is an applicator, not a loose agitator or a miniature pump check ball. It is retained by the package and rotates to present the formulation at its surface. Make this function clear when requesting a quotation.
Ball size and finish affect fit with the collar, while the formulation and package design affect movement and product transfer. Include the intended user-contact and visual requirements, but keep them separate from the dimensional drawing.
Use these inputs to move from an application name to a useful component and supply enquiry.
| Selection input | Describe your conditions | Why it belongs in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Formulation contact | The actual formulation, storage and cleaning exposures where applicable. | Agree the contact evaluation and required documentation. |
| Package interface | Ball size limits, collar design and retention. | Provide the controlled mating-package reference. |
| User and visual criteria | Rolling feel, visible surface condition and dispensing behavior. | Define an approval sample or objective acceptance method. |
A smooth sample does not by itself establish cosmetic-contact suitability. The exact material and finished formulation need an appropriate assessment, with the document requirements agreed for the intended market and use.
Retain the approved ball and collar revisions together. A small component change may affect retention, movement or transfer behavior even when the overall package appearance remains similar. A color reference is not a material specification.
| Material or product candidate | Why review it here? | What must be confirmed? |
|---|---|---|
| 302 / 304 / 304L Stainless Steel Balls | A stainless option to review for an appropriate applicator design. | Confirm formulation contact, finish and package fit. |
| Glass Balls | A glass option where the package design and contact requirements permit it. | Review exact glass type, surface defects and retention. |
| POM Balls | A polymer candidate for a compatible formulation and collar. | Specify the actual resin and validate movement and dimensional behavior. |
These are application-review candidates. The exact grade, finished specification, supply scope and documents are confirmed in the quotation.
Evaluate filled packages through the intended storage and use conditions. Check rotation, retention, dispensing and visible condition, then identify the accepted component and formulation combination for the order.
Avoid this assumption. A roll-on applicator specification cannot be inferred from an aerosol mixing-ball enquiry.
No. An applicator rotates within the collar; a mixing ball moves inside the container. Their fit and acceptance requirements differ.
No. Review the exact material with the finished formulation, use conditions and required documents.
An empty-package fit check is useful but does not replace evaluation with the actual formulation and filled package.
Use a related function to compare requirements without assuming the same ball specification applies.
Bring the material, size, operating conditions and quantity. Include the drawing and validation topics that matter to this project.
